Fun with Flags — last updated 11 August 2026
Fun with Flags is an Android game published by Horus ML S.L., a company registered in Spain. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to fun_with_flags@horusml.com, which is also the address for any request under the sections below.
The short version
- You can play single player and training without an account. In that case nothing you do leaves your phone except anonymous usage statistics.
- Signing in is only needed for online duels and the global ranking.
- We do not show ads, we do not use an advertising ID, and we never sell your data.
- You can delete your account and everything attached to it from inside the app.
What is collected, and when
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address and the name on your Google account | Only if you create an account or sign in | To identify your account across devices, through Firebase Authentication |
| Display name and chosen avatar | Only if you sign in | To label you in duels and in the ranking |
| Game results: score, correct answers, rating, games played and won | Only if you sign in | To keep your progress across devices, run the ranking, and rate duels |
| A recording of a single player round: which flags came up, what you answered and how long you took | Only if you sign in and finish a single player round | To act as a "Ghost player" for someone who finds no live opponent |
| Anonymous usage statistics: screens opened, rounds finished, sign-in method, app version, device model, operating system version and approximate country | Always, including as a guest | To see which parts of the app get used and where it breaks, through Google Analytics for Firebase |
Everything else — your full answer history, your per-flag record and your settings — stays in the app's own storage on your device and is never uploaded.
What other players can see
If you sign in, your display name, your avatar and your rating are visible to other signed-in players in the global ranking and during a duel. The same three things are shown next to a recorded round when it is replayed as a Ghost player. Your email address is never shown to anyone.
Advertising
The app contains no advertising and no third-party advertising libraries. Collection of the Android advertising ID is switched off, and the permission that would allow it is removed from the app at build time.
Who processes the data
The app runs on Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions and Google Analytics for Firebase), operated by Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC as our processors. Account and game data is stored in Firestore in the europe-southwest1 (Madrid, Spain) region. Analytics data may be processed by Google outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards described in Google's own terms. No other company receives your data.
Legal basis and how long it is kept
Under the GDPR, account and game data is processed to perform the service you asked for (Article 6(1)(b)), and usage statistics are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the app (Article 6(1)(f)). Account data is kept for as long as the account exists. Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months. Recorded rounds are deleted together with the account.
Deleting your account and your data
Open Profile in the app and choose Delete account. This removes your profile, your row in the ranking, and any recorded rounds, and then deletes the account itself. Data held only on your device is removed by uninstalling the app. If you would rather ask us to do it, write to fun_with_flags@horusml.com from the address on the account and we will action it within 30 days.
The account deletion page sets out the steps, exactly what is removed, and the one thing that is kept: a finished duel stays on record for the player you played against, carrying the display name you used at the time.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you may request access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to the address above. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority; in Spain that is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.
Children
Fun with Flags is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the new version replaces this page. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
